Love My Melanin

Melanin:The pigment that gives human skin, hair, and eyes their color. Dark-skinned people have more melanin in their skin than light-skinned people have. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=4340
Honestly, I hate people who say they dislike their skin color or just anything about themselves. I understand that the world is crazy and that you are provided more privilege if your skin color is different but lets be serious. If you dislike something about yourself, like your skin color, that says a lot about you. You need to re-evaluate your life.
You are going to love my skin color and accept me for me. I love me enough to know that just because we are different, that we are still the same and that we are all human. With all the craziness happening in this world we need to sit down and make sure we love ourselves before we love another. They may hate our skin color but as long as you love it that’s all that matters. We are all created different and must accept the fact that we all live in this world. The fact that we can’t even coexist because of skin color still throws me for a loop. Just because I have more melanin then some people doesn’t mean you should hate me. Get to know me and you might realize we have a lot in common.
Before saying, “I hate the color of my skin” make sure that you don’t hate yourself. If you hate yourself, I will completely understand but if you don’t think about what you said. Sometimes we are put in situations where people make us feel ugly, hate ourselves, bully us because of the color of our skin. As long as you love yourself and know that you are the most incredible person in the world you will be fine. It’s more then what is on the surface but what’s in your mind and how you view yourself.
“Love the skin you’re in”

Dear Black Men

Dear Black Men,
They say we will never be an important part of society, constantly degrading us and our value. I understand that they fear us and our greatness but you can’t stop us. As long as we stick together and try to do better than we will be better. They are afraid of our uniqueness and the change that we can bring to society. We are all not perfect but without the flaws we have that would never make us different.
I am constantly afraid of the world we live in because of how we are depicted. Dead beat dads, violent hoodlums, uneducated niggas, heartless nobodies and jobless losers is what they consider us. They are stuck in the same mindset from the 1950s and not really getting to know us. We are all different and contribute to society.
My name is Kevin Pierre, I am Haitian American. I have a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering Technologies and a Masters in Information Systems. I have a career and I am a co-founder of a non-profit, which focuses on community service and helping to build our youth. My parents have been together for almost 30 years and I have 2 siblings.  I am not a statistic, my household is not a statistic and we would not want to be considered one.
To my black men, I wake up every day thankful for another day of life. The way that society and media portrays us always hurts me inside. I always feel I have to tell people around me how much I appreciate/love them in my life because I may be the next one that shows up in a news story. We could say, that might not happen to us but it has happened to everyday regular people.
To my black men, keep your head up and keep pushing to be better. Society can’t hold us back forever. They can discourage us, talk about us and hurt us but they can’t bring down who we are. The moment we let them is the moment we accept what society has labeled us. I refuse to be a label, I refuse to be defined by society and I refuse to be anyone else besides myself.
To my black men we are different, unique, versatile, powerful and ambitious. Don’t let anyone destroy your drive because of your skin color. Kill them with kindness, make them fear you and show them what you are truly made of.
Respectfully,
Kevin Pierre

King Bey & The BeyHIVE

All Hail to King Bey and the BeyHIVE. I don’t think people understand the loyalty and the power that Beyonce and her fans have. The BeyHIVE can clearly end the hopes, dreams and careers of the people that try to attack King Bey. I don’t know why people haven’t realized you can’t just talk shit about Beyonce and hope that everything will be okay. NO NO NO, your life is no longer safe the BeyHIVE will sting you hard.
Okay lets stat some of the facts before we begin. Beyonce is/was (however you want to call it) part of Destiny Child, one of the greatest female trios of all time. You will always hear a Destiny Child song somewhere with Beyonce leading the vocals. Next, she has won over 40+ awards including Grammys, AMA, Billboard awards, World Music awards and even an Emmy for her Super Bowl Performance. Her net worth is estimated to be at $450+ million and growing. She has multiple ventures including endorsements, fashion lines and philanthropy that she is involved in globally.
Now let’s get into this topic, just wanted those who are not aware of her success to know why she has such loyal fans. She makes music that people can relate to and is very influential. She is an influential human being, not woman, but human being. If you can’t enjoy the way she lives her life and the music she plays for the people, please go walk into the nearest wall. As a guy I have my moments when a Beyonce joint comes on and I’m like “this shit pops right here.” SIDE NOTE: Guy code thing to do though if you’re in a car with a bunch of other guys change the song ASAP. I think one of my favorite Beyonce songs so far is 7/11, only because this sounds like the best sex song in life. Think about the words before you debate me on this.
Shoulders sideways, smack it, smack it in the air – Translation (while she turned staring at you smack that ass in the air)
Legs movin’ side to side, smack it in the air – Translation (open her legs while you smack that ass some more in the air)
Legs movin side to side, smack you in the air – Translation (them legs not open enough smack that ass some more in the air)
This is only the first 3 lines of the intro I could continue but back to the topic. Another song I really like from her is off her Dangerously in Love album was a song she did with Luthor Vandross called “The Closer I Get to You.” It’s like she was meant to sing this song with him. I am just saying you can be male and female and love the mess out of her songs. When you feel someone talking about her you will attack them just because you feel that’s your family. Like, “Don’t talk about King Bey for I hurt you.” No matter who your favorite artists are Beyonce is probably the only one you will fight the hardest to defend.
1st person we will discuss is Draya Michele from Basketball wives. She said the below comment about King Bey, then ended up deleting her twitter for a while. I would understand if you’re a regular person talking shit but if you are famous and have a bunch of followers why would you even say anything?
2nd person most recent Kid Rock questioning King Bey’s greatness. Like why you mad though? You’ve been out longer and your much older, so your mad? I get it bro, you will be all right.
To quickly name a few,
Raven Symone – Deleted her IG, didn’t check to see if she had a new one.
Keyshia Cole – Talking about Beyonce’s song “Bow Down”
Keri Hilson – Also taking shots at Beyonce’s song “Bow Down”

Karrueche Tran – For talking about Blue Ivy’s hair
Bill O”Reilly – Talking about Beyonce’s “Partition” video
I feel like if you are going to come for King Bey make sure your team is somewhat loyal to you because King Bey will let the BeyHIVE do the work. They are known to end careers and destroy homes. I would have to say Beyonce has the most loyal fans that any person can have. That’s the only way to get through in the industry that she is in. Is to be loyal to your fans and have them be loyal to you. Shout out to the loyal members of the BeyHIVE.

Everything on FLEEK

–>

Honestly I have no idea where this word came from but people just started using it. You know when you hear something for the first time and you “act” like you know what it means until you figure it out. For a good month people would use this word and I am like “wtf, does this mean it’s dope, disgusting or something?” When I finally learned what it meant, I told myself I couldn’t use this word. I honestly think it is worse then using thot, only because thot has been used so much its stuck in my head. “On Fleek” means on point from my understanding. Like, “ Your shirt is on fleek” or “Eyebrows on fleek”. Lets give a moment of silence to the English language because we seem to create new words everyday.
Supposedly the word fleek started with some girl on vine talking about her eyebrows on fleek. Now people use this to describe every dam thing. At first it was okay but people use it on a daily basis. It has become extremely annoying, every picture is on fleek, and every meal is on fleek. Literally everything is on fleek. I believe in 5-10 years they might consider it a synonym to the word point “point, on point, fleek, on fleek.” At this rate they might as well because once celebrities start using certain words then it will blow up and everyone will use it. Then people will petition for it to be part of the dictionary. Then our kids will be asked to use the word in a sentence.
“I told the thot that my outfit was on fleek”
“The lunch lady made some taco’s that was on fleek”
“My eyebrows on fleek, just like my sister’s.”
I really think “eyebrows on fleek” is funny as shit though, I laugh everytime a someone says it. We sometimes forget that WE have the power to make something commercial or completely kill it. We are bigger then media and what ever we say they will fight so hard to be against it but will have to fold.  Our biggest weapon is social media and it allows us to express new things and share it with everybody. Rewind to 1990’s when social media was barely existent and the words that where popular during that time.
All that
All That and a bag of chips
Da Bomb
As if
Duh
Homeslice
Just to name a few, they don’t have the power of social media to keep them relevant and in use today. Be aware that the power we have as a collective is bigger then you think, and any word that is created will most likely carry on to future generations.
