False Sense of Happiness

Don’t let social media or things you see in society rush you into a false sense of happiness. Just because one person is happy, doesn’t mean you will be happy in the same way. I personally like staying in my bubble and disconnecting from society from time to time. It grounds me and reminds me who I am. I think that so many things that are considered a societal norm, people try to live by. Live your own life, in your own way because you choose to and not because society tells you.

Talking to a couple of my friends about their weddings, I could see the frustration and stress from the entire process. The consensus was that they didn’t necessarily want to have a wedding but they were just doing it to appease family members and friends because you’re “supposed” to have a wedding. I feel if you are “supposed” to have anything, really look at it before doing it. Was it something created by society or was this something you genuinely wanted to do? I feel this way about certain holidays like Valentines day and Christmas. Just because we grew up knowing about them and exchanging gifts, have you ever really done research on why these holidays were created? Valentines day always seemed like a forced holiday to get someone something or treat them a particular way even though you should be doing this for them everyday. Make them feel special on other days that aren’t’ designated holidays.

Get out of the norm and don’t let society rush you into a false sense of happiness. Do things on your own time and because you actually want to, not because you are obligated to do them
